Default E1752 Modem Install Problem

Hi,

I just got the new E1752 Modem from my o2 store, unfortunetly there is some compatibility problem with my HP dv5 laptop, I'm running Vista OS, its a pretty new laptop.

When I insert the dongle into the USB port the drivers install fine but then it won't run the install wizard or the autorun.exe file. So I can't get the software onto my computer to actually run the modem.

All I get is an "interactive services" problem message from windows that tells me I have a c++ runtime error when I plug in the Modem. Also AVG antivirus sees the autorun.exe file as a Trojen Virus.

Any help would be much appreciated as the modem runs perfect on my girlfriends laptop which is also a vista running HP, although a differnet model.

Hi Daryll, just to let you know I did some seraching of my own online and found that sometimes some Hp laptops have issues with "bitlocker" blocking external USB drives, so I installed the patch HP said for my laptop, thinking it would fix the problem, but unfortunetly it hasn't.

Now when I plug in the modem, I no longer get any error message (I assume the patch fixed this) but once again, the drivers install as usual but then yet again the autorun.exe file doesn't run.

Would it be possible to go back to my o2 store and get my E1752 modem swapped for a E220? As my fathers E220 runs perfect on my laptop?

The error as far as I am aware right now has to do with the AVG software but I am limited in the amount of support I can give for a product we don't provide.

Hey Daryll, I just uninstalled AVG and then the install for the modem worked perfect, no problems. Thanks for your help! Such a simple fix.
